Senior Infants did a very egg-citing egg-speriment today for Science Week with Mrs Moynihan. They learned about air resistance and built a parachute for Humpty Dumpty. Thankfully it worked and we had no scrambled eggs!!!
Humpty Dumpty having his big fall:)
Static Electricity
1st Class completed an experiment looking at static electricity! The smaller the ghost the greater the chance of it flying !!
Hot, Hot, Hot !!! 1st Class investigated if fat is a good insulator of heat. They were learning how Antarctic animals use their blubber to keep themselves warm in icy conditions. The butter stayed at its room temperature even after being submerged in the bowl of ice cold water-proving that it is a good insulator of heat.
Magnetism Mrs. OSullivan’s class were learning about magnets today. They found some interesting things that were attracted to magnets.
Tom Crean- Polar Explorer While learning about Tom Crean local polar explorer 4th Class asked a real life polar explorer into the class to tell them all about the extreme conditions Tom had to endure on a daily basis. Anthony has been to the North Pole 22 times. He showed us what a person has to wear in the North and South Poles and shares some of his personal experiences with us. It was so interesting to ask all of other geography and science questions about the poles for Anthony to answer.
