For Science Week 2023 a few of the classes hosted their own Science Expo in their own classrooms for their classmates. They demonstrated various science experiments which they researched and carried out by themselves or in small groups.
4th Class Science Expo
For science week, Ms Olivia O’Shea’s 4th class hosted their own science fair and presented their own researched experiment to the class. Each child explained what steps they followed and the results of their experiments. A lot of fun and learning took place. We had rainbow rain, a lot of volcanic eruptions, the chemical reaction between coke and mentos, lava lamps, skittles rainbow, making snow, making oobleck, making elephant toothpaste, making watercolours using ice and markers, the chemical reaction that can inflate a balloon etc. There was plenty of fun, excitement, mess and cleaning up afterwards but the children really enjoyed being scientists for the day.
6th Class Science Expo
Ms Debbie Moriarty’s 6th class pupils did science experiments in class today as part of science week. We had experiments looking at making lava lamps, looking at the chemical reaction between coke and mentos, the fact that cinnamon doesn't dissolve in water (it stays on top of the water due to the surface tension of the water) to name just a few. Well done to all who took part.
2nd Class Science Expo 2nd Class really enjoyed researching and demonstrating their chosen experiments in front of the class. We had skittles rainbow, mentos and coke explosion etc. to name but a few.
